Top 5 things worth mentioning so far..

Alright, first off Mike has been incredibly busy and has asked me to write a blog. This is my first one so I'm gonna keep it short and sweet.  - David Brown

1) Afghan Vs. Loas - Afghan had a lot of hype they had built up about themselves and they came up way short of that after being crushed by Loas. Loas looked solid and are definitely a contender for the title again.

2) Italy Vs. ES - Who predicted this result? Did Italy play good? or ES just not that strong? ES lost two key players for them but they still have a pretty strong squad. This result if the biggest upset of the tournament so far, but i doubt its the last upset we will see.

3) Canada - Canada looked great in there win Vs. N. Ireland. They looked solid but not spectacular. I didn't see this game but with an 8-2 scoreline i am hoping Tavis scored 8 as i did pick him in my WCP draft!

4) ROI Vs. Sudan - A very exciting game, high paced, and great atmosphere. Ryan may have scored the goal of the tourney in the first game with his game winning volley. Sudan will be a tough team to beat for anybody that comes up against them.

5) Poland Vs. Nigeria - Don't let the score line fool you! Poland are still the best team in the WCP and i still have them picked as my favourites to win the whole thing. This game was just a little speed bump in the road to their title!

DB did you watch the Italy game? No one really knows many of those guys because they play div 3 mens here in Regina. It is still half field though. Some good players in that div to be honest. The top div here in regina is 2, but my point is ... they have some really good pick ups this year. I am not surprised at the result. Good for them. I'd like to see Italy go through. ES can hype it up, but to be honest they looked really weak out there. First goal scored was also weak and within 2 minutes of the start of the game. ES keeper a huge mess and slow.

Anonymous said...

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! All this Afghan hype. I was laughing my ass off mid way through the second half. What a joke of a team. They kept telling people they would win this tournament and be the team to beat. Ha ha. So many hot heads on that team talking it up like they will win. Wait a go Laos. Good for you guys.

AFGHAN - PRETENDER

LAOS - CONTENDER

I would have loved to see the look on Soheil face in the dressing room after this loss. He is the best coach clearly lol.

Afghan needs to get rid of that fat stalky looking guy with the round face that plays forward. He sucks.

Anonymous said...

No i didn't see the ES game but i was just going off of my knowledge of the tourney. Its good to hear weaker teams are picking up players and are able to compete.

As for your comment about Cantin, he is one of the reasons why ES made it to a shoot out with us last year. Made some insane saves.

So DB just because you lead the tournament with a 6.62 goals per game average you think you're some kind of expert? Julio wasn't Wasting time or out of shape he was walking around doing his best DB impersonation. DB other than rocketing goals at will with either footfrom all over the pitch and beating defenders 1 v 1 at will what else can you do? You suck DB!!!!!

Hahaha jk buddy, April Fools! gl with the knee rehab!

Stop your sarcasm Poland are not that good and u know they can't beat Ireland or a team like Laos and Canada , if Poland can't beat Nigeria a team that dominated them then how can they beat top teams?

Few comments.

Italy defended strongly, and were gifted a couple of goals. Has ES passed their best before date? Another game should answer that, but they didn't play with the same passion, and hopefully for them, were missing a bunch of players.

Nigeria scores a nice late goal to tie, but more importantly why was Poland having to defend the whole second half. It was an accident waiting to happen. If you added Messi to your wcp team, and you thought he might be an upgrade at keeper, you still wouldn't play him there and lose 1-0. Well Jay is a proven striker and Poland needs finishers. And even if the experiment to put him at midfield had merit, you wouldn't send long balls from keeper over his head the whole game. Just the first game and they'll figure it out tho.

Laos took some of the powder out of Afghanistan's guns. The little midfielder from Afghanistan is a nice player, but Laos's continuing attack broke down Afg defence. Both teams showed potential to cause more damage through the tourny tho.

Canada just isn't the same team without the Dooley's, but they are better. After seeing them, they are a legitimate threat in the tournament.

Anonymous said...

Ha ha did Dooley write the above post with the Canada comment. A bit of a give away. Dooley is not good. He is fat and slow. Enough said. As for ES, that was just some bad soccer from them. Who loses to Italy. Come on now ...

Poland ... I agree. Nigeria, really. They have a siv goalie and Poland couldn't beat them. Another team I have my doubts about.

And Afghan sucks. All the hype and they get there asses kicked. GOOD STOP you hot heads.

Rep. Ireland/Sudan/Laos look legit again this year. Canada not bad, but played a weak team and France possibly good as well.

Anonymous said...

I find it funny how Afghan made Chico pretend he was hurt, but played in the game! What a horrible tactic, the coach should be fired and Chico should be cut for hyping his team up

chico said...

Brown get it right,, afghan didnt hype themselves.. Go read the blogs and see where it started. All the hype was created by all the haters. Brown writing on here is a waste of time. Are you even in Regina??

Anonymous said...

I admit it. I am the one of the best defenders in saskatoon. I am probably considered top 5 easily in Regina as well. Sorry but there is no denying my skill and speed. I will pick apart anyone on these blogs trying to tell me otherwise.

I really wonder how gullible some people are, as it seems that the majority of people that read this blog believe every word that is written. It is impossible for me to make a post and drive to Saskatoon at the same time.
If you haven't noticed, my brilliant pal GOW has not only posted anonymously a few times today, he also made a post pretending to be me.

Yet I do realize how sensitive the majority of the people that read these comments are, so I'll make sure to write less rubbish and more hard pressing news about this event.

Weekend Recap:
Group A:
Thus far it seems like a two horse race between ROI and Sudan... yet who knows what twists and turns may happen.
The Sudanese are already talking about seeing ROI in the final... something I am actually rooting for so all the people that say I suck can eat their words as their 6'6 strikers tower over defenders with ease. If I am such a bad defender, then it should be no problem for teams like Poland, Germany or Nigeria when they meet Sudan in the quarters.

Group B:
Don't count Afghan out just yet. I thought they controlled the game vs Laos until they ran out of steam due to a lack of depth, especially the lack of a GK and Striker. Laos isn't a shoe in to win this group just yet.

Group C:
Did Poland have a bad game, is Nigeria that good... or what is happening in Group C? Well I think all the top teams in this group are at the same level... yet none of them are very good. Poland is an ok squad, and so is Nigeria, and I think Germany will be in the mix to make it a close group... but I don't see this group going far in the playoffs.

Group D
Norway is not good, Greece lacked offense, Italy pulled a big win, and ES stumbled. This group could easily be all over the place once ES gains their full squad. I expect Norway to have some bumps in the road, that they are by no means a shoe in for the second spot. ES and Greece are on the outside looking in, so if either team can get a big win the next few games. Group D could actually prove to be the most exciting.

Chico was not pretending to be hurt, it was a sarcastic joke that Soho made after he read Riggs's post about Chico fist pumping!!!
How gullible are you?!?! It's almost getting to the point that there should an IQ test before you read the blogs... are the level of intelligence on here is remarkably bad.

Riggs I agree about GOW ban. Last time I'll mention that guy and his numerous different tags and anonymous comments.

People with mental disabilities could post more intelligent stuff on here than this Julio character. Simply stunning. Get rid of him already. There should be a limit to the posts you can put on here or something. This guy is becoming very annoying. Anything with the name Julio should be blocked. I wonder what he is going to do once the wcp cup is all done. Still blog on here. Probably!

Soheil Summers said...

Not the best of games for us. Had 7 guys missing including our starting goalie.

But I'm not going to take anything away from Laos, they are a quality team and showed first hand why they've been a contender for the WCP title for the last 3 years. You gotta give credit where its due.

I mean any team that can man mark 1 player (chico) with 3 players and still keep their shape and organizational structure deserves full praise. Their work rate is second to none. I wish them the best of luck in the tournament.

I just wanted to thank the fans who came out and cheered us on. Our next game is saturday vs Jamaica, please come out.

Yea I am almost certain that's the GOW guy posting as an anon again. It's getting old.

Julio's last post actually is a very good representation of what the groups look like, but clearly the insults will still happen irregardless of what is said. You anon posters, mainly GOW, are really starting to make an embarrassment out of yourselves.

-ESsuperfan

Anonymous said...

Do you not know how to read? Clearly it was a fake Julio post by someone.
I am a little disappointed that the blog owner would post a fake post like that as then it just fuels anonymous posts that are irrelevant and incorrect.

As for the defending comment:
Julio is actually a very nice player. I've seen him defend well and move the ball around on one and two touches. On a pitch where the ball runs at a fast pace, that's something a few players in this tournament are actually capable of. Yet the majority of the people on this blog don't have the knowledge base to recognize intelligent play and skill.
Another nice player I have seen so far is Mitch Bousche? I am not sure on the spelling but smart, technical afghan midfield from Saskatoon.

So I guess if you puked in your mouth once, well hopefully you puke in it again.

Brown/Collins
I think any comments that are made by GOW and anonymous that resemble GOW need to be restricted. GOW is the same individual that was offering bounties for player's leg being broken. I am already seeing players being injured in this tournament, someone offering a bounty for injuries is crossing a serious line.

Secondly. I am curious to what is so offensive that Julio has said? Can someone please answer me that? I come on here and I read a few jokes and then I see anonymous comments that are absurd or that contradict what they say. For example. How can you call someone a Dbag for making attacks and then you attack that person and not post your name? You've actually just done what you've complained about?

Lastly. I am pretty sure that this blog is for entertainment so all the people that are getting upset need to relax. I am almost positive that I saw Bart say hi to Julio this weekend, so why do random by-stand have any grounds to be so offended and angered.

If anyone can intelligently answer these question, I would gladly read your post. As for the blog owners; please monitor better as GOW is bordering on actions that will lead to serious consequences.

Anonymous said...

I do admit i may let a little go when it comes to publishing a couple borderline comments when they are about Julio. As Alvi is a buddy of mine and we joke about it. The ones i let squeak through do not offend him nor upset him as he find it quite funny then he finds a way to turn them into witty little comebacks.

As it has been said many times, this blog is for entertainment purposes and Julio does a good job at causing a good discussion!

DB

Anonymous said...

I agree with David.
I do understand where some of the bloggers are coming tho; some people lack a filter and judgement and can't see the obvious fake Julio posts and ultimately that results in anonymous posts that are just pointless... but at the same time I believe the majority of those anonymous posts are being generated by the person who does the fake post in the first place.

I actually could care less what the bloggers say, as I had good laughs with my buddies about posts that have been made... especially those most rude ones... those ones are the best. I feel bad that you people posting anger posts are getting so worked up over nothing, just so I can have a good laugh over drinks... but hey I guess entertainment is a two way street.

I would like to discuss this weekend abit tho, as I am pretty sure that alot of the "powerhouse" teams are really not that strong.

My views on this weekend;

Poland - First game of the tourney is always a rough one. missed 2 key players but should still beat a average team. Still will win the WCP title.

Afghanistan - Missing a goalscorer but do have some nice play makers in Mitchy and Chico.

Loas - From what I've heard had a solid outing, definitely a title contender.

Sudan - Starting to prove they are a power house in this tournament. Maybe not through skill but through there speed, athleticism and recklessness.

ROI - Not an excellent first game had to shake of the rust since they don't train together for this tournament. But back to their ways in the 11-2 over Somalia. Hope they can maybe compete with poland, but i doubt it.

DB

I have to agree with the post made above that Mitch is a quality addition for afghanistan.

Mitch is very technical and good in tight spaces, so he can get the ball in and out of his feet quickly in a crowded field that WCP offers.

If afghan wants to go through their group he will have to play well.

DG

Just wanted to make a couple of mentions from the weekend on our games ROI.

It has been previously mentioned but I would like to reiterate that if Sudan plays like they did against us no one wants to play them in an elimination game.

Sudan is a unique side whereas I can see them competing against a strong side as they did with us and perhaps faltering against a weaker side. Their style will lead to many ups and downs. A very unorthodox team that basically bypass the midfield.

If they stick to their game plan as they did against us they will be contendors. If they try to take part in a game of skill and knocking the ball around on the ground they will end up faltering.

Somolia was over matched in their first WCP game. They will struggle to win a game in the tourney, but it was nice to see them get a couple of chances and give their supporters something to cheer about.

One note would be for Somolia to look at the high foot rule. It is dangerous to be kicking the ball above shoulder height when someone is trying to head the ball. This happened repeatedly in our game.

A special shout out to the Scotland supporter in the kilt and beard. He does not overly know the game well as you can tell by his cheering but he is good for a laugh. I ended up in his vicinity before our game against Somolia last night and he was cheering his heart out. I had to laugh when he said to me, "we were not very good last year as we lost every game and I contemplated not wearing the kilt to the games." He basically was saying he was a glutton for punishment last year. It was nice for Scotland to get a result for not only him but all of their supporters their last night.

Chico, Brett, and jay did a great thing to go to teams which aren't very good to help them out so that we make this tournament better, mike Collin u should do the same, if u go to another team or not surround your self with supper stars and end up winning the tournament, then u will prove to people that your good but until then, ROI will never get any support from the crowd

DG admit it you were trying to look up his kilt. But Julio already managed to get a good look and answer your question. Yes, he was wearing Chicolicious!

Lol at how our perceptions of Poland went from a wcp champs quality of team to a pretty weak team after their first game. i recall Spain losing their opener to the swiss before they won the world cup? don't get ahead of yourselves folks

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 12:01,

As much as I'd love to still have Brett and Jay on our team, I agree that it is good they left for the overall betterment on the tournament. Parity is generally a good thing.

In terms of Mike doing the same, or not surrounding himself with superstars, I'd say we lost the 3 individuals who would be considered our biggest superstars, in Jay, Brett, and Brown. To clarify, this isn't a plea for fan support, just making the point that if ROI does well this year, I'd argue against the notion that our success could be pinpointed solely on "superstars". Teams like Laos have just as many as we do this year.

Curious ... what was the final score in the Somalia vs. Rep. Ireland last night.

I know alot of teams are missing some key players especially ones from saskatoon. Is this an excuse to go and lose though? Thoughts?

Mike Collins said...

Final was 11-2 ROI. In my mind not having Saskatoon players there isn't an excuse to lose. We didn't have all our players there against Sudan but you need to make the best of what you have. Even if its ugly.

I once read a book that could be helpful to some of these teams entitled "How To Get It Done". A few teams should pick up a copy.

Anonymous said...

Collins,

What are some of the topics that book covers? Sounds great...where can I find it?

Nate

Anonymous said...

It sucks to not have players around, but teams like Afghan can't use that as an excuse. I doubt they would have won there game against Laos regardless. All this Afghan talk yet such a crappy result. Rather amusing if you ask me. Love Soho long explanation on why they lost too ...

Anonymous said...

Dufus wrote that book in 07 and has since released a few other titles:

How to make excuses
How to make friends
How to talk sh!t and not back it up
And his best piece:
Why Norway is destined to win each and every
wcp and game from 2012 onward

I would highly recommend all 5

Roberto Garzona said...

Wow, everybody is anonymous here! no one has a name or no one has the soccer balls to give their name...anyways, about the anonymous man or woman who wrote that about Nestor, let me tell you that Nestor sang the Salvadorean anthem because he is Salvadorean and he loves his country, but unfortunately he is not playing for E.S for very personal reasons;and let me tell you that this situation even happens in the real World Cup too; he is not a loser. Nestor is a great player. Also you may check how to spell his name propely. Only losers can't spell correctly.

Anonymous said...

No one said poland is like spain, they were simply stating one should not count a team out, or have a complete change of heart based on the first game. they merelyy used spain in the world cup as an example of a team that was doubted after one game (which does seem like a decent comparison in this case as poland WERE one of the favorites coming in, as were spain). however poland have no excuse to not have won against a team like nigeria.

Anonymous said...

Hey Anonymous guy, Your pretty much the definition of a looser posting something like that. Nestor is a great defender who plays footy cause he loves it, not cause he's trying to impress any one in this mickey mouse tournament. People play for fun and the love of the game you tool. Take comments like that somewhere else.

Probably some stupid ES player or coach that has a grudge. Face it, you lost to Italy. Like who are you really. Not going to lie buddy, I would love to find out who you are. If anyone knows any info. regarding who this person is, please let us all know. There is no need to trash talk good people. I'll personally be there to confront this moron. We will see how big you are then ANON poster. If you have any class at all, and want to back up your smart ass remarks leave your name.

I am shocked that someone is willing to call someone a loser for signing an anthem, which is a sign of respect. Absolutely sickens me.

The stubby short little fat kid I was talking about that Afghan needs to get rid of is Ahmad Kamali. I couldn't remember his name then he posted something above. Afghan could use an upgrade up front on the right side where this guy plays. Not a good player at all. I don't think Afghan has quality players at all. Chico is Afghan. That's it.

All I can say to you is that you are an idiot! Attacking people without even leaving your name! Another idiot and I am not gonna waste my time arguing with you! Keep barking, its a blog and have fun barking and no I won't reply back to you if you keep attaching me or anyone else without even leaving your name. A 2 year old kid can come here and write whatever they want about people and teams so there is no difference between you and that little kid. I bet my little brother has a bigger ball than you because he is not a coward to attack people and not leave his name! Like I said, keep barking you......whatever!

FYI - I played for 2 minutes on that game given Mitch a break in midfile so you probably didn't watch that game or you are confusing me with someone else, but I could care less if I play or not. I play all year round and its another tournament so If I play good if not I will cheer for our team. It's not professional soccer and I think attacking people is unwanted and not necessary buddy! But you can do whatever you want because I guess you got power sitting behind your computer screen and typing whatever you want! Keep it up champ!

I would really like to know who made those comments about Nestor. Not cool at all. Right now, I am going to guess either Julio or Riggs. To be honest, I'd actually like to confront both these guys to get to the bottom of this. I'm more thinking Riggs because of his comments on the Norway blog, and I do believe Julio is a good funny type of person and wouldn't do such a thing after how well he took all the trash talk from other bloggers. I really hope this wasn't you Riggs. It's definately got to be an ES player or coach or someone close to the team.

AK don't worry about the people talking bad about you buddy. The tournament just a fun time and whether you had a bad day or wheter your team loses it's just for fun. People take this too serious at times, however, I don't like to see friends of mine like Nestor getting called a loser for singing his country anthem ... I am willing to find out who did this. AK 47, I am going to go on a limb and guess that the guy that was once beaking me is the guy now trying to stir issues with you... he failed with me and he is just an idiot... he used to go by anonymous, then GOW, and now is back to anonymous... the guy is not bright... and I recommend you ignore him.. as he is just a harmless idiot looking to beak someone as he just finds whomever he can beak at any chance.
