10 Predictions For The Weekend

Mike's Predictions

1) Nigeria vs Canada is Game of the Weekend - Yeah I know everyone thinks Sudan vs France is the game of the weekend but I don't think it is. Think about it, the loser of France vs Sudan is still likely going through but the loser of Nigeria vs Canada is pretty much one loss away from being eliminated and they still have to play Poland. That's not a good position to be in.

2) Portugal Women Emerge as a Powerhouse - From what I have seen and heard of the Portugal Women's team roster I believe they will put on quite a show. The Women's side could use another top competitive team and I think they will put on quite a show.

3) Poland Doesn't Get Full Points - I have said this throughout this years posts and I will say it again: Poland will have trouble scoring goals. Without Jay or Brett being there I envision them dropping points. My crystal ball is not clear enough to say whether it is to Hungary or Greece but I think there will be a tie. This is definitely my boldest/riskiest prediction as I am not sure it will happen.

4) Holland Women's Team the 1st to 2 Wins - This one is pretty straight forward. Holland are the 1st to play 2 games and I will be the 1st to win 2 game. Included in this is an upset-ish over England and their lavish garbs.

5) ROI Puts Double Digits past Scotland - ROI is going to concede goals in this tournament because their goalkeeping is weak. The best way to make up for that is to pile in the goals. I see them putting double digits past poor Scotland. I also believe at least one more team will get to 10 goals. Germany over South Korea looks like a prime candidate.

Bonus Prediction! - Someone Gets Sent Off - Doesn't happen too often in this tournament but opening weekend the players are hyped up and it often gets the best of them. I would say there is a 50% chance it is to someone on Djibouti and 50% chance it's to someone on any other team.

David's Predictions

1) Michal and the Polish defense get a shut out - Rare in the WCP to see a shutout but Poland are going to have to be strong defensively since they will not be banging in the goals. Also this wouldn't hurt me in the Fantasy Draft as I did take Michal and Poland's defense. POLSKA!

2) Afghan to upset Laos - Some might say this is the game of the weekend especially with all the saskatoon guys expected to be there for both teams this should be a good game. The best 2 teams in group B going at it on the first weekend. Although I think Laos is an all around better team I am going to predict that Afghanistan might be able to come up with the win. 5-4 Afghanistan.

3) Nate leads scoring - ROI will demolish Scotland and Nate will lead the charge and the golden boot race right from the first weekend.

4) 2012 MVP named - Tong Tong will be named MVP for last years tournament. He lead his underdogs Sudan to the title and scored some clutch goals.

5) Goalie Goal - I feel like we will see a goalie goal this year. Not sure if it will be in the first weekend but with alot of weak keepers I wouldnt be suprised if one of the better goalies fancies there chances.

Brown - Michal scored a goal in the RSA tournament in February - your fantasy team is poised to run away with this thing! POLSKA is right!

Ya I know he did haha i also have him favorited to be the goalie who scores but I didn't want to write about him again cos he already got a shout out and I don't want it to get to his head! Haha I would say Diakiw as well but Mark faces better goalkeepers.

with the weather storm happening, my prediction no one from out town comes in!

Anonymous said...

poland needs some serious firepower up front. They need jay/levis bad. I've watched a couple of their friendlies and they basically have no scoring threats. Strong D/goalkeeping can only take you so far in a tournament.

Our goalie is taking all our pks. I predict Dani Vilanueva will get me at least 45 points in the round robin.

Anonymous said...

Don't think Nate will let that happen!!

ok because of the weather storm happening, i know for a fact that no one from out town can make it the RCMP has closed off all roads but the good news is that with Afghan having so much $$ at there desposal they have purchased some Arabian horses and use those to by pass the roads and have there players making it on Saturday

Greece vs Hungary = most physical game of the tournament

Both these teams tie or upset Poland

2 from Djibouti get sent away for voilent actions or spitting

no way afgan upsets laos....laos 6-2

france takes sudan 4-3

Anonymous said...

Hey Karlen, you post on here like you are some top quality player. What again do you do for you team. Yeah ... that's what I thought. Remember when you tried to create a co-ed division in this tournament?

Anonymous said...

-Afghan will never in it's history beat Laos. Laos wins 8-2. Manager Soheil Summers loses his mind and quits. His game plan is to put two guys on Chico. Bad idea, since there are so many other dangerous threats on Laos. Afhan has some very weak players. No need to name any, we know who you are.

-France kills Sudan because of weak goal keeping. People will see the DIV 4 quality in Noor. 5-1 for France.

-Nigeria upsets Canada 4-2 because their new goal keeper is wicked and the changes they have made to their roster are very good.

-Nate falls flat on his ass and has to retire from the tournament because he injures himself. Everyone laughs at the idiot.

Anon 15:40 - Karlen must have shut you down at some time, as you appear to have issues. Brown - come sit with the Polish fans during the games. We'll teach you some choice Polish words.

Ya I remember Karlen coming up to people and asking if people were interested in starting up a CO-ED division and I said Hell ya!

Nigeria beating Canada with jd in net? Hahahaha...ya ok bud

Anonymous said...

Ya it will happend JD was never a stand out keeper. His parents paid the coaching staff to have him

Anonymous said...

yeah they paid Simon Fraser himself to be the starting goalie. I know Simon and he told me.

JD was a dud. People are hyping him up like he's good or something. Noor makes that JD guy look bad. Get real. Watch Nigeria destroy Canada.

Allan Hogg is posting stuff on this blog... WOW... have you cut your greasy hair yet Al? HA HA. A co-ed division in this tournament will never happen. Collins, put up a poll on should we have a co-ed division. I want to see what people think. Personally I think it's lame.

Also Collins, curious to how you know the possible MVP selections? I thought that stuff was kept secret. Don't you figure it's a bit biased because people will look at your poll and not actually go by the deserving performances by the players? Just wondering, that's all. I'd like to see someone win that deserves it. How do you know your list isn't missing anyone?

Anonymous said...

I think David Brown was smoking some crazy GOOOOOODDD stuff when he wrote his predictions. None of those will happen. Sorry David.

Anonymous said...

MVP always goes to someone that plays in the final. Most likely to a team that would not have won without that player.
Do you think Sudan would have won if they did not have tong tong?

Anonymous said...

MVP goes to Tong Tong. I garantee that much. Well deserved too.

Karlen is an idiot. Al a bigger idiot. Co-ed does not belong in the WCP CUP nor will it ever be part of it. Nice try though. Why are we even talking about having a co-ed division!? It's so stupid.

You'll just have people crying and complaining (mainly the women) about how they can't handle the men. Half the girls out there are cry babies. Why even play co-ed with men if you are going to make such a big scene. I know this for a fact. I've experienced it first hand and I have even been verbally abused and hit by these women playing in the Regina co-ed league.

It's absolutely disgusting that women in soccer, especially in Regina have to play it up like they are weaker but then play the we want to be equal to men as well. If you don't want to play against men and you can't handle it because you might get hurt, then don't play. It's just that easy of a choice. Don't take out your frustrations by talking bad about people and complaining. I'm not going to take it easy on you if you are a female. Why would I let a female score when it's 2 points for a female goal. Give me a break. I speak the truth.

What happened to my comment? People on this blog can't handle the truth. I can't believe it. I'm actually annoyed you are doing this.

K, never thought I would be actually agreeing with Diya. I don't like you Diya nor do I want to be your friend, but you have a good point about some of the females in the co-ed league in Regina. You are not completely full of it guy.

The Joker said...

ahahhah stfu Diya, you play Co-eD soccer to the FULL EXTREME, I have watched you play and its like you take some steroids before the game and get all pumped up to play, you probably listen to that jersey shore song from DJ Paul D "beat that beat" and do fist pumps before coming onto the field

Anonymous said...

Ill begin by stating that I am a male, and I play div 1 co-ed, as well as men's.

I have no way of knowing if that's Diya, so ill respond to you as if you're anonymous. You're an idiot. Quit posting comments. Co-ed could not be a more recreational league.. It almost requires the creation of a new word to explain how recreational it actually is. To consider it anything close to a "real" game of soccer is the "absolutely disgusting" part. You play in co-ed to spend a couple of days each week with a few friends of either gender. That's the reason they play in the same league as men. Some men even have their wives on their team, so that they can spend time together while kicking a ball around.

I guarantee you were being some sort of prick to get hit by the girl, and I'm sure if I was in the game and you acted like that to a girl, it wouldn't be a girl "abusing" you. Woman generally aren't very close to the skill caliber of males. Please understand this, because they therefore get a handicap. Their goals count for 2. Does this bother you? Why? The game means nothing, who cares if they score? If you cannot handle this then obviously you're the one who shouldn't play coed. Take a second to understand society and our culture as a whole and realize that men don't tackle women as hard as men tackle other men. It's a pretty simple concept, and sadly something that a lot of people don't understand. Come tackle me in the men's league though. Please.

Ya I see Dyia play at U of R coed games and wow pretty shocking. Running over girls and tackling from behind. I got hurt because of him ! Dyia should go into bull fighting mexico he likes to run and scream suits him

Anonymous said...

Should there be a Co-Ed division no...but should there be any others then Men's and Womens in WCP look at it how you want, the current setup seems to promote growth.

Anonymous said...

They should tier the tournament and have relegations. if your team doesnt make the 12 team tournament, you can play in the non competitive tournament. Then the top 3 teams from non competetive move up and the bottom 3 from competetive move down a division. Calibre of the tournament would go up, tournament then would not be 365 days long, and every game of the tournament would be exciting

My Predictions for the Weekend:
1. Mike Collins causes some sort of scene during the game that will lead to people disliking him even more. Yes, Mike is very disliked and I also thought this was impossible but Mike will continue to find a way to do it.

2. David Brown shows that he is not the same player he used to be. Brown will be a mere shadow of the goal scoring machine he once was. I've heard he only plays Co-Ed, so this tournament will be a shock to his return.

3. Nathan Reis shows up bigger and slower than last year. Already a big guy, Bigger Nathan Reis will arrive in even sloppier form this year. Hopefully he decides to be a team player cause watching him try hard to score goals is painful on the eyes.

4. Dwayne Gareau skips the tournament to stay at home and blog. Dwayne will spend all weekend writing a 7-page, double spaced novel that he hopes is published on this website. No one will enjoy it and DG will sob like a small child at home.

5. Karlen Herauf will show up for the Men's Poland match as she was certain that it was a Co-Ed tournament as Poland will field a few male players that in fact look very womanly. Once again Karlen will come on the blogs and try to make a pointless push for a Co-Ed division only to get blasted by Diya again.

Bonus Prediction:
The Joker shows his face. One of the many jokers will show their face this weekend for the matches. I'm putting my money for it being the biggest heckler in the ROI, Serbia or Colombia as some of their main targets are Paco, Nathan, and Darko. It'd be wild if he wore Joker face paint to the game!

Diya hurt me in a game, and I was out for 2 weeks because of him, hes dangerous!

Your prediction is not too bad about me! I am not the same as i use to be yet! I had a double knee surgery and still coming back from it! But you did hear wrong, I played 2 co Ed games back in January haha that's all. I have trained with the huskies since December which is more beneficial for me. But like I said not at the level I should be yet and this tournament is just for fun and to see my friends so I don't care if im in my peak condition for it!

To Anon 20:12. The poll will go up right away.

As for how I know to list the MVP's.. I get fed information. These were people they suggested I put up. I would say I am 99% sure it is one of them but I don't know who. I am not worried that it will be biased because it has been decided for months. Probably since last tournament.

Karlen said...

To be clear - Diya never hurt me in a game.

I'm just so flattered that someone would want to sign their posts with my name, but if you don't have your own name to use maybe you should stick with anonymity.

Anonymous said...

ANON 23:10 leave your name. I'll come tackle you. I doubt you will be getting back up. Ha!

As for co-ed, having girl goals count as 2 is completely sexist if you haven't figured it out. It also makes it so that the males pass to the females or they would be useless pylons out there. If your wife is playing co-ed and can't handle it, then maybe she should quit because my style of game is not going to change. If she gets run over, that's her business not mine.

Anon 23:10 there is also no slide tackling in co-ed. I prefer the straight up physical shoulder to shoulder play. If you can't hold your ground, then try to hit the gym. Male or female, no excuses. Understanding society and culture has nothing to do with anything in soccer. It's a sport, you play hard or go home. Women want to be equal to men. It's a fact. Then play on the field like you are equal!!!!!!

So essentially you are calling women weak ANON 23:10 by your cultural and society crap. You want me to go easy? I'm pretty sure most women out there will tell you that they play hard and play to win. They enjoy going up against men. I'm talking about the few cry babies we have. Maybe there are more than I thought. You know nothing. My game style will not change.

We have anonymous posts from big people who can't leave their names. Good for you people. I am not scared to post my name. ANON 23:10 if you haven't realized there will never be a co-ed portion of the WCP CUP. Too many cry baby women, probably people like your wife. She's probably mad because I worked my magic and dangled around her.
