Team Preview ROI - Shaan Kapila

Best win? Worst loss? For your team in history of the tournament.
Best Win - Beating Laos 3-0 in the finals certainly showed how strong of a team ROI was. It could have been even worse if Evan didn't come up with some key stops.

Worst loss -Since last year was my 1st year and we didn't lose, it wouldn't be fair to not bring up our semi final clash with ES. ES came out with a game plan and executed it perfectly. Julio put on arguably one of the best defensive showings in WCP history and stopped our explosive attack. Game was a thriller to watch and be part of.

Tranfers. Who's in? Who's out?
In- Garrett Meier, Shawn Dooley, Ryan McGavigan, Julio, Riley Korthius, Ryan Mcallister, Jordy Schidlowsky, Kule Kambere

Out - Jay Tomchuk, Benno Looft, David Brown, Brett Levis, Jeff Friesen, Adam Laing

Who is your most important player?
Losing Jay, Brett and David is going to have a huge impact on our team. Nathan Reis is going to have to step up and fill the shoes left by our top 3 goal scorers of last year. Jonah deserves honorable mention as he has bailed out our team in the past (penalties vs ES). He's one of the top keepers in this tournament and will be more relied upon this tournament than last.

What are you team's strengths?
Ireland has always been known to have an all-round strong team and this year shouldn't be much different. Scoring as many goals as we did last year won't occur but we still have attacking options.

If you could have one player from any other team who would it be? Why?
Brett Levis would be a top player on any team, and he showed that be being one of our most dynamic players last year. He's an all round player who rarely has an off game. So having him back from Poland would help a lot.

Realistically where do you expect to finish?
It wouldn't be right to make the finals every year and not expect to make it again. It will be a tougher run, but we should make it.

Who would you like to see win besides your team?
Hopefully not Afghanistan... anyone else is alright.

My take: This ROI team has had a lot of changes since last year but we should be able to remain a strong side. Yeah losing some strong players hurts but I have replaced them with solid talent. As for Shaan's best win and worst loss I would differ by saying beating France in 2-1 in the semi final 2 years ago was a big one for me since they had a few defected ROI players. As for worst loss, there is nothing that can remove the embarrassment of losing to a that awful Norway squad. The strength of our team is definitely depth in that whoever is on we can count on them to get the job done whether it's a starter or not. I see ROI making a trip to the finals once again but coming up short in 4-1 loss to Poland.

I would love to see Mike Collins cry like a little baby after Sudan blows them away in the opener. He hypes up his team way too much. If they were that good they would have won every year. Time for a change. Collins is a dud. Go break another trophy cause you can't get your way you goofy looking clown.

Oh and ... this is for Julio ... your ES team sucks too ... remember how you got killed by Sudan. Yeah .. that's what I thought you goof.

You don't even have Chico this year who is definately a star out there. No one can replace him. You guys don't have the quality goof.

How in the world does Ireland always land in the weaker pool year after year, that's crazy, and their root to the final is as clear as it could possible be, honestly their final is guaranteed unless if something extraordinary happens

For the Anon poster that obviously has a hard on for Chico... and doesn't know how to read... if you think ES sucks, well that's your opinion... why are you complaining to me?

As for replacing Chico... who could EVER be able to replace that guy? I heard Nike is finalizing a deal that would have him shoot the new Nike commercials where Chico is mentoring Kobe on how to achieve Success at Success at Success at Success... I don't know how Soheil managed to pull those strings but well done. I also heard that Chico now has a lucrative 5 figure contract that will pay him $321.00 for playing in the tournament. Chico also has a signing bonus of a herd of cattle, a jumbo jet, and I heard Soheil is now working on having a movie made about Chico... it would be titled "The Prince of Persia" and Jake Gyllenghal would star as Chico.

So luckly for you Chico will now have his own blockbuster flick that you can drool over him, as there promises to be alot of action and nudity just for you.

I wouldnt classify what mike is doing as building up ROI. They have been in the finals almost every single year. It is clearly just a common known fact that they are a strong team and he isn't tip-toeing around that. It is simply telling the truth as they have always been a powerhouse in this tournament.

What he is doing with poland, however, CAN easily be classified as pumping them up. And if anything, he is attempting to make ROI look even worse to bring the pressure onto poland. They have not accomplished enough to all of the sudden be able to whoop ROI in a final 4-1. They obtained 2 players (of course, they are great players) and suddenly turned into a colossal titan, stomping anything and everything in its path? We dont even know how those players will mesh into the lineup, yet mike is more than happy to say, and be adamant about the fact that poland will crush any and all of ROI's dreams.

Also, even though they are friendlies, poland has done nothing in their exhibition games to prove that they will win the tournament.

So two words for you mike: Relax buddy.

I will finish with an edited quote by Mike

"We aren't fooled MIKE COLLINS, we know what you're up too."

Mike Collins said...

Why can't all posts be like this. Well written, a bit of humor, with an opinion and ammo to back it up. That's what this blog needs.

I don't know if I have better reading abilities than most, but there is one player that ROI has picked up that I thought would cause quite a stir on here. Amazingly, no one has commented about it yet.
Pay very close attention to the part where it says the players that have been transfered in... the 4th player named is very interesting.
I look forward to hearing everyone's opinion.

I think its fairly obvious how the opening game between Ireland and Sudan will go (especially being in my position).
Ireland is coming off a tournament last year where they wiped out anyone who came in their way. Not offical but probably close to 100 goals for and 10 against.
Either way Sudan's energy will be huge and as long as they keep playing high intensity they could have some success.
We all know that every person in that building will be cheering for Sudan besides a few parents so it will be interesting to see how it frustrates the champs. I know from last year in that opening game I walked away from that game pretty rattled having won that game when we didnt deserve it.
I think with the addition of Julio they will be strong defensivily again and having played with Garret Maier I know he will hope to help Lee keep Ireland's fierce attack going.

Although mike is playing the mind games, it's some how true from what's coming out of the polish camp says they've talked and everyone is on the same page that anything other than he final is not and won't be accepted, and they believe having those 2 players from Ireland they should be able to beat any team in there way, and the only team they are a little worried about is Ireland otherwise no other team can beat them

Mike u mean you picked up Julio from ES? Or a different Julio

Mike Collins said...

The one and only.

Julio to ROI.

Why did you leave ES Julio?

Anonymous said...

Julio is more like a dirt bag. He will be the reason why people score goals on Ireland. Him along will ruin their ultimate goal of winning this tournament again. Anyone can get around Julio. He's not that good. A old lady that car bairly walk could play better defense than Julio. The guy not good. Not even average. End of story.

P.S. Julio clearly sucked up to Collins to get on Ireland. Wonder what's actually going on ...

Anonymous said...

All the anon poster love to talk crap. Put a name with your posts if julio is soooooo bad. Julio was great against us in the semi finals last year and him spencer and cantin were the reason the game was so close. Julio has proved himself as a solid centre back for WCP.

Anonymous... I just attended Chico's seminar on how to be successful at success... and he taught me how to defend. So I will have a new arsenal of defensive skills out there... I am hoping to get some coaching from the great Soheil Summers this weekend to fine tune my game... I heard Soheil is a master at his craft and I just want to be able to stop the old ladies that are trying to walk past me.

As for sucking up to anyone... your mistaken there bud, I think you have me confused with the Polish Playboi.

On a side note... It's funny cause 95% of the year I play shadow defense as a striker... and then for one tournament.. I play defense and I supposedly suck.... Oh well, I guess Soheil just has his work cut out this weekend.

Julio and Chico were one of the best defenders on ES I just feel bad they left there respected teams but hope they find happiness were ever they are headed, I think Julio will help replace benno as that guy was solid and that's why Ireland was so hard to break down but now the door is wide open, more opportunities for other teams to score against Ireland

Anonymous said...

Hey Brown. Why arn't you signing your name DB anymore. People made too much fun of you for that or what. As for JULIO AKA JUFUS, he'll get beat out there especially if he learned from Chico. Wow!!!

If JUFUS was such a die hard ES fan since all he talked about is how ES is amazing then why did he switch? Probably because he knows deep down inside that ES sucks and won't win the WCP. JUFUS is a huge hypocrite.

And David Brown ... just to put things in check buddy, if you were all that you wouldn't be playing soccer in Regina. Just saying ...

Domondon

Anonymous said...

Domondon... your a dumbass.. that simply sums up your previous post.

I am pretty sure that David Brown on crutches has more talent than you do on your best day, and I don't even care to know who you are.

As Jufus... that's not even clever... Dufus atleast has some meaning... that's you trying to piggy back on a nickname as you lack the ability to create your own.

I have a hard time understanding why soo many people struggle to read posts. Is the educational system in Regina that dysfunctional that you can't read what is written on a screen? I sometimes wonder as too many Regina based bloggers are making accusations and assumptions from alleged posts that were never written.

Domondon.. I never once hyped ES to be unreal, I said a dream final would be to play against Poland so I could battle against the Polish Playboi in front of his die hard fans. Yet at the end of the day I just wasted five minutes of my day trying to make sense to an illiterate loud mouth, who although posts with a "name" is still anonymous... which is shows just how much you back what you say... which is very little (Thought I'd make it crystal clear, as I didn't want you leave reading this post confused with your panties twisted in a bunch and riding up your ass)

Yesterday may have been one of the most controversial days in WCP history. I read the thread by Shaan and now I am trying to make sense of it. I am not sure if Julio & Mike are making fake transfer rumors to cause up a stir as a move for Julio to ROI would be arguably the biggest transfer move in WCP history.

I am still very much curious about how and when that move came to be, and the validity of the situation. I think many people are curious to say the least.

Mike Collins said...

I will explain it. Tuesday I was going through the ROI roster and realized we only had 2 center backs, having lost, Benno, Friesen, Garritty, and Laing. So we went on the hunt to see who we could get. Worked our way down the phone list and Julio answered. We are extremely happy to have him.

It's not a rumor.

Ha ha, calling Julio Jufus is hilarious. Good job Domondon. I personally think he can't handle it so he needs to post his snooty remarks to defend himself. Lame.

Jufus every post you type up you have to refer to other people. Stop name dropping you goof.

David Brown is a very good futbol player. It's too bad he didn't go anywhere with his talent.

This Julio guy who seems to be popular on these blogs is not that great. I remember watching him play against Sudan last year. He was the main reason they lost so bad. He needs to tighten up on D. The guy is way too cocky out there. Don't dive in so much man. You sound like your the best by what you write. Sorry to break the news to you, but your not the best. Try thinking twice when you go out there this year about your play. You're are on Ireland now, and people are going to notice if you were worth the pick up. I personally think you are going hurt the team. We'll see come game day since you guys have the opener on Fri.

Jufus is more than a disease. He is a "Bubonic Plague". The guy is going to kill everyone around him because he stinks so bad. He shouldn't be benched, he shouldn't even dress for games. Why waste a roster spot.

Anonymous said...

Julio needs to be put on injured reserve. No need for him out there.

Anonymous said...

"Every team he has been on loses bad..." What are you referring to? My ES squad from last year which played ROI to 1-1 draw till PK's... while every other team bent over and let ROI have their way with them... or which team exactly?

Oh Ramin... you make me feel bad about ever chirping the Polish Playboi... I've actually have found a lot of respect for Bart ever since he made a solid post, something which the anonymous pussies can't seem to make happen yet... Now Ramin... you are the perfect example of the type of brilliant posting that occurs... I love your logic, and your reasoning... as you even went out to point to a specific game... the only problem with your argument is that it is extremely flawed... as you should check the game sheets from last tournament and you will notice that I was not in attendance for the Sudan vs ES game... but hey, good try bud; you came in here trying to swing for the fences... and you struck out and showed the quality of argument.

As for the same guy trying to impersonate people... like you need to be a bit more clever.. it's obvious that it's the same person trying to use different persona's... and Jufus is not clever... I was actually disappointed hearing it, as you piggy backed the name and didn't bring any originality to the table... if your proud of such a weak attempt at being clever, well I guess good for you... but I expect more a lot more than sub part piggy back attempt... maybe take a page out of Bart's playbook as he brought wit and humor to his post.

On a final note, I'll be reporting the latest happenings from the WC later today, so stay tuned.

Jufus aka Julio, Ramin is totally right about you. Regardless if you were at the game against Sudan or not, your not that good. There is also no need to swear Jufus. The only pussy is you. Try not to get angry over blog posts you tool. You don't need to be all upset because people don't like you. Since you keep talking about Bart(Polish Playboy or as Jufus would spell it Playboi) in like all your posts, maybe you should go marry him cause you clearly have a man crush. Who cares if someone piggy backed a name, stop repeating yourself. Man your more annoying than I thought dude. Julio will be a good addition to ROI.

I don't understand how FOOL and GOOF are big insults? Sounds something a pre-school kid would say to another; I guess in Regina if grown men call each other that it's suppose to be disrespectful... who knew.

I think sometimes I have to spell it out for all the sensitive Sally's out there... half the time the things I say are jokes, and the other time I am mocking someone like Dufus Husdal.
My new addition to daily reports from the WCP is me mimicking Dufus's uncanny ability to be the worst self proclaimed WCP insider in the history of the event.

Now for the latest news
1. Rumblings around the Afghan camp are that contract negotiations for Chico have taken a turn for the best. The President of Afghan has offered to include a bonus clause for every play-off game won by Afghan.
If Afghan makes it into the quarter stages Chico will be awarded a herd of sheep, 5 virgins, and flock of chickens.
If Afghan make it into the semis Chico will be awarded a Jumbo Jet with his face painted on the side.
If Afghan make it to the finals Chico will be awarded a pyramid with with face chiseled at the top.
If Afghan win the tournament, Afghan will build Chico an island shaped like Chico himself.
Chico's contract seems to be the most lucrative contract in the history the WCP.

2. Soheil Summers has re-invented the wheel. Soheil claims that his design is much more round, and will roll with much more ease. Soheil was bored of creating new formations that he decided to put his genius to better use. The tally to date is that Soheil has 50,000 useable formations, 5,000 possible set pieces, and has created a style of play that will forever dominate the game of soccer at the WCP.

3. Milk Cartons across Regina are preparing to make room for missing posters that Germany will need once the WCP begins. Captain Kirk's lethal attack may go MIA, that Dairyland want to do their best to support Germany by helping them find their lethal attack that supposedly exists. I am thinking that Germany has someone how managed to clone the Paterson twins, and now there will be 4 of them instead of 2... therefore doubling any skill on the German squad.

4. The Greek team remains MIA from the blogs as they have directed their focus on more pressing matters. Infatuated with the game of Rugby, the Greek's will try to mimic the pre-game ritual of the "All Blacks". In preparation of this ritual, the Greek God of Vids has forced each Greek player to watch Remember the Titans to memorize the necessary choreography. It is rumored that the Greeks will perform their pre-game routine to the song "It's Raining Men" by Geri Haliwell.

Tell next stay, stay clueless Regina.

I find Julio hilarious, but what is more hilarious is how people don't realize how he intentionally is mocking posters. I don't recall Julio ever saying he was good, other people have posted about it. (ie. Shaan's write up). How can you agree with Ramin when his argument wasn't even legit???

People get so worked up, and ROI is now going to be the biggest draw at the tournament. The atmosphere for their first match is going to be electric. Julio and ROI are a perfect match, I hope that ROI have all prime time games as irregardless who they play they will be can't miss games.

(Last time I checked "Spussy" is not a swear. I am not sure what it means, but it does articulate most of the anonymous posters on the blogs.)

I had a chance to sit down and interview the infamous "Julio" this afternoon about why he defected from es, and I was able to get to the bottom of it. It seems that mcjulio had a very rare case of dufmegaphobia. It is a rare form of a timid, mentally frail individual who lives in constant fear of being megged by dufus Husdal. Once he looked at the schedule and saw the April 8th clash with Norway all he could think of was dufus slipping an inadvertent, greasy Meg through his legsHast was left with absolutely no choice but to defect
to roi, a team that surely will not face the
Norwegians. It was sad news for the el Salvador camp but we fully understand and respect his decision.

Unfortunately the el salvadorians have been left with no choice but to strip Julio of his name for turning his back on his Latin roots. We decided we should search for the perfect Irish knickname as he does not like his real name revealed online. The obvious choice was to flip the o to the front of his name to form o'juli and change the spelling....o'hooley. Which is much more Irish sounding. We then just needed a first name and searched through the Gaelic archives until we found the perfect solution. The name of a very Irish roi alumni that Julio has always looked up to. We are now left with the name of shae o'hooley. Please respect his wishes in changing his name. Thank you!

Ps, who posted that Gerald is the top player on Afghanistan???? That's like saying Kapila is the best player on Ireland!

Congrats to Chico on the lucrative deal, I wish you the best of luck! Hopefully I can one day take wrigley to the Chico pyramid.

I bairly come on these blogs but just looking through the topics, there is no intelligent talk about the tournament at all. Just some guys making jokes and trying to draw unwanted attention like they are cool. Same guys talk and say things over and over. Get a life and try and talk about something people care about.

How is cracking jokes and making fun of people going to promote this tournament and gain interest for people who want to know more. It's a shame that these select few people like this fellow Julio who got nothing really great to say have to ruin it for everyone.

People come on here to read some things that are interesting and to gain some useful information.

I don't see myself coming on this blog again. I have heard a number of people say the same around the facility. No point. I hope either it changes or people boycot it all together and let the same people talk it up about nothing with each other.

The focus of this blog also seems to be on one team. Everywhere I look it's all about Rep. of Ireland. A little biased since the blog owner runs Rep of Ireland.

Another point to note is that there is all this talk about saskatoon vs. regina soccer players. Why are we discussing who's better. I see this tournament as a fun way to bring people together. This blogs makes people angry and draws people apart. All this negative attention should be brought up and maybe Kevin and the committee need to re-look these official blogs and or get rid of them. I will have them look into all these blogs because something needs to be said. This being an official blog, things need to change and fast.

I'm more than fed up of the rubbish on these blogs. Some maturity would be appricaited and some people who know what they are talking about. All these posts are from adults yet sound like little school children. Give your heads a shake.

Overall I think this blow is nothing but an attack on people and also a way for people so suck up to each other. Guys talking about teams who are playing crappy in friedly games to fool the opponents when the tournament starts is not useful information when people know those friendly games arn't anything special with people coming out as guest players and most of the teams have their out of town players away.

Congrats to the few people who ruin it for others. You know who you all are.

Kapila

Anonymous said...

I heard Cesar is coming back. If that's true ES is gonna take it this year forsure

Anonymous said...

I meant top 10 Regina, not for whole wcp, which I think is realistic, here's why:

Kapila is the only player from his age group that regularly got invited to ntc weekends over the past few years. He even played in sunday matches, a rarity for a sask athlete. Plus, Collins wouldn't sign him up if he was shitty, so he's an obvious future top 10 choice there buddy boy!

Gerald is very fast and a little rough around the edges. Top 10 now? No chance! However both of them are currently training year round with the u of s Huskies. If you don't know how much that can help look at Abu, he went from 3rd, or 4th string keeper to team captain as a centre back in just a few years. Even sir Chico was a semi dud coming out of youth and in a couple years signed a contract to play in t bay. Both of them could be considered when listing the elite players in WCP, or the province. Anyone involved in that type of environment playing that level of soccer for 5 years (if they stick it out and put in the work) could obviously jump to being one of the top players in Regina. I didn't guarantee it, but said it was possible. I mean Regina pumps out some very talented youth players, but few go on to play Uni (since there is no team there most likely), so can't improve at the same level as someone that would.

If you want to waste your time on video and editing, I would be happy to look over your footage and see your argument. I will look for the anonymous guy, with no name, no face, and most likely no nuts! haha, put your name behind your posts please.

Thanks big guy!

Brennan,

Your post was very negative and rather pouty. You should take a look back and see what happens when anyone points an opinion... Regina anonymous posters start making awesome posts and everything goes down hill... I am pretty sure that Nathan's post was quite accurate about that situation. DG makes an effort to be a source of information and opinion, and even without him saying anything offensive he is getting beaked... so I wonder if it us having to give our head a shake... or all the Regina posters with an opinion who can't back what they say with their name.

Once upon a time, you were able to post an opinion... then the Regina anonymous started to make personal insults and comments... sometimes it doesn't matter what you say, your going to get chirped. So with that being said, why not return the favor with some jokes here and there.

If you want hard facts and breaking news about this tournament... maybe you should go on TSN and see what they offer. If the blog is too offensive for you... which I don't see why it should be, as I take the brunt of the insults... then don't look at the blog. It's a very simple solution.

I can respect your opinion, yet your opinion is very uninformed. You took a quick gander at the blog, and formulated a novel about how things should be... yet you haven't been around to witness things first hand at how the reality of things are. If there was no wit, humor, or sarcastic remarks... these blogs would be dead.... look at Dufus's blog... I think he had a whole 8 comments on his last post.

Give your head a shake Brennan, the blogs are for enjoyment. If you can't handle that... then don't come on the blog. If your offended, then there's something wrong with that... as I get insulted on the regular on here and it is meaningless to me.

PS. Stay posted for the breaking news later today, thanks to Brennan I was side tracked.

Brennan,

Before you completely discredit the blog in its entirety, which it seems you may have already done, I think you should take into consideration the root of your concerns. Is it the blog itself, or perhaps the comment forums that you find off-topic and offensive? I agree wholeheartedly that the direction some of these conversations go are far from where they should, but that is more a reflection of the individual commenters than the blog itself.

Anytime an open forum is provided on a blog, idiots will appear in masses to post their opinions, or just try and stir things up. Perhaps Mike could delete more comments than he already does, but the line is certainly a difficult one to establish. Realistically, if he prohibited any comments that were slightly offensive or off-topic, about 10% would remain. This would eliminate any sort of back-and-forth banter, and would make the blog comment boards very drab and uninteresting.

Your opinion is clearly one that indicates this blog makes a mockery of the tournament, but based on my aforementioned points, I would have to disagree to the nth degree. Read through the official blog entries, and hopefully your thoughts will change.

Do you really think your comment alone was going to change the direction of the blog?
If you have such a problem with what is being written or that the topics of the blog are not to your liking, then maybe consider using your time to do something useful for yourself. Clearly the rubbish we all write on here is too childish for your adult taste.

Hellas will not be stopped. We have a strong defense, good midfield and attacking strikers. Not to mention we also picked up the best goalie in Regina!!

I love nothing more than seeing people come on here and try to pump fear into others minds by stating the apparent players they have picked up and the extremely high calibre of these players.
I'm so excited to come out and watch team Greece dominate everyone with their strikers that attack. I will definitely be dissapointed if your strikers were out there doing anything else.
You guys are the best bunch of malakas in the tournament.

Nice post, Anonymous 17:08. It seems like you just learned the word "dud" recently, because I've seen it scattered throughout the comment forums, written in all caps each time, by someone with horrible English, who makes no real point with any of his posts. I can only assume that it is you each and every time.

Maybe you have made some decent posts, but then who would know, considering you hide behind the "Anonymous" tag. Keep doin' your thing bud.

Furthermore, I have made no effort whatsoever to become friends with whoever Brennan is, just merely pointed out some facts.

Hate to break it to you homeboy, but huskies and Canada west is the best soccer a player living in saskatchewan can play. Will it make them pro? Not likely, BUT training 5 times per week during season and 3 times per week off season, plus playing in the Saskatoon league is obviously doing more than any other player in the province. Therefore, if they work hard and listen they should improve more than any club player over their 5 year period, as I note
with Abu and Chico-lish.

Also technically if you have played pro, you are ineligible for cis soccer so obviously they haven't gone pro. So nice question homes!

Finally get a chance to respond to Brennan's comments you I will take two seconds to do so. Yeah there probably is a lot of ROI talk on here but that's the team I know best. I sent out emails to the other teams but they failed to respond so what am I supposed to do?

Also I spoke with Kevin, as I do most days and he is very happy with the blog. I mean this thread has 70 comments and the page had 800 hits yesterday. Its great publicity for the tournament. But feel free to discuss it with him yourself.
