Regina fielded a team in the Barnstone this year and they barely survived the game vs Saskatoon's top team. They played with every man inside their box and were saved from a huge blow out just cause of the post and sheer luck. Ultimately they ended up losing to a Saskatoon team, but the goal scorers for that that Saskatoon team aren't even here in this tournament. No wonder DeLong is leading for the golden boot. He is the new Nathan "Try Hard" Reis as his motto has always been "score as many as you can against the weak teams."

Hey Mike....you didn't list the goal scorers in you Day 13 results. Can you please update that? Thanks

Anonymous said...

Umm, DeLong isn't from Regina, he is from Yorkton

Hey anon 20:08! No one asked or cares!

Anonymous said...

what are you talking about annon 20:08 EVERYONE on both teams were hungover except Julio and the score was 6-5, you dont know what your talking about, fyi 3 regina players played on that saskatoon team.

Ha ha Anon: 20:08. What a joke you are. Trying to make Regina players look bad. You Saskatoon fools need to shut up and stop making yourselves look so superior to everyone else. Regardless of where you are from in Saskatchewan, you are not that good. Also, the Barnstone turf tournament is a huge joke, and so is your stupid one weekend World Cup tournament. Got to love the losers trying to make Regina look bad. Saskatoon duds for you. They only wish they could have the Riders! Ha ha ha ha ha

6-5 was a blessing for that Regina team, this conversation is continued from a post made in an older thread.

If I could count how many posts were hit, and how lucky Peto was, it was a miracle that the score was as close as it was. As for Regina players, the only one on that team was Jarvis as the Patterson don't really count as Regina players anymore.

I was in the stands not really cheering for either team, but it clearly wasn't a contest. When a team has to stick all of it's players behind half to defend all game and still lose, that is pathetic. If that Regina team had tried to play soccer then they would have gotten blown out and you can't even argue against that. Anyone who says otherwise is clearly delusional.

Anon 10:56, who cares what the score was. The better team won and there was a clear cut difference in quality between both teams. You see terrible teams come close to beating good teams all the time. Play that game 10 times and 9 out of 10 times that Regina team would lose. I'd give the Regina players back to the Regina team and fill those spots with a few players like Jerson and Josh and add some of the young huskies and then you'd see the top calibre that Saskatoon has compared to Regina. No argument, no debate.

How are the Patterson's consider Saskatoon?? That makes no sense. Annon 15:18-idiot

Saskatoon players are no better than Regina players, I dont know whos the clown that keeps pumping up the tires for them, remember last yr aka ROI havent won it in 3 yrs

Anonymous said...

"Saskatoon is so good ! "

the only reason why they have won because they cheat and pay teams to lay down and some of them do steroids, i know it

Anonymous said...

Because you Saskatoon fools have the huskies and some shitty white caps training facility doesn't mean you are better than Regina players. You idiots fail to forget that Regina gets more immigrants who grow up playing soccer than Saskatoon does. In Regina we have talent, some of which have played in pro leagues. If you don't know them, well that's your problem. I can name 10 guys I play with at a local guy who would absolutely dominate in an elite level. The fact is, I guarantee Regina would take it to Saskatoon. You guys have no clue the talent we have. Some of the people are not interested in playing in a rec soccer league. I guarantee a group of Regina players could make a team and destroy the university huskies team. I think it's time for all you people to stop trash talking and use your head. Think about it. You people don't know everyone. Sad people come on here and preach their b.s.

Anon 21:57
1. For starters you are wrong, Saskatoon has fastest growing population with the most amount of immigrations entering Saskatoon over any other city in the province. So you main argument right there is bogus.

2. I am pretty sure they don't send all the "pro" immigrants to Regina and then send everyone else to other centres like Saskatoon.

3. The term "pro" is thrown around loosely by too many people from other countries. Reality is that some "pro" players were playing division 8 and still consider themselves to be "pro".

4. IF these players are so good, where are they? Why aren't they standing out in this tournament or in the league? There's a difference between thinking that you are good and actually being quality.

Anon: 7:34 some people don't like playing organized soccer, especially in Regina. The Regina Soccer Association is brutal. A lot of guys choose not to play. I would rather have a kick around with a group of quality players than pay good money to play in a very poorly run league. You my friend, don't really know what you are talking about. Regina is better than people think. We could give the Saskatoon folk a run of their money. I know a lot of quality players who choose not to play. Your argument anon: 7:34 is bogus.

Anonymous said...

I think we should ban all these Saskatoon players who come and play in "our Regina tournament". These Saskatoon players do nothing for our tournament except attack people and our city. I don't care if we have less quality players. Get over it. You guys should stick to your one weekend copy cat wcp cup and stop coming to Regina. We don't want you. BAN ALL SASKATOON PLAYERS. WE DON'T NEED THESE DISGUSTING PEOPLE.

Anonymous said...

Anon 12:04; you didn't make much of an argument.
You just said that these "pro" players just don't like the league…. that's like me saying that I've seen the lochness monster, even though no one else has seen messy. Therefore you argument still remains bogus.

I am really worried about some people on this blog;

it is concerning how some people view people from Saskatoon and how their ignorant comments are supported. Saskatoon players are all disgusting people who do this and that? Seriously, there is no validity to your statement there. Say something useful or don't say anything at all. Scum like you should be banned from this tournament, blog and even participating in soccer in the province and possibly country.

Regina is not as good as Saskatoon's soccer at this moment in time. It is what it is, and instead of complaining why not develop better talent. That SASKATOON Huskie Alumni team was the best team in the country a few years back and have placed in the top teams in other recent tournaments. Where has the REGINA UNITED DOUSCHEBAG team placed?

"Copy Cat" tournament? Are you kidding me right now? How ignorant are you? Yes the Saskatoon tournament came second to the Regina tournament, but this tournament didn't invent the wheel. Regina was years behind other major cities in Canada that ran the exact same tournament and still do. The size of these tournaments are much bigger in other cities that they have to alternate which years what age groups play. So if you honestly think that this tournament is one of a kind, ground breaking tournament; you are out to left field.

Side not; what happened to the overweight player from Germany last night? I saw pictures but I am curious if the injury came due to a reckless challenge or was it something related to the turf?

For all you Saskatoon idiots.

Chico, Myra, the Pattersons, Holness, Peters, Torres, McGavigan, Jarvis, Tavis etc .. the list goes on and on ... are all from Regina. Top quality players who you Saskatoon duds forget about.

All these guys count as Regina players you fools. I can name drop 20 more guys from Regina that would make a top quality team. I love how people on this blog come on here and think Saskatoon is all that. You go on and on about Huskies etc. So what if you play on a stupid CIS team. It's not that difficult to make one. Paco Brown made the Huskies. That right there says enough about that team.

LOL 18 April 2014 17:53... Maybe some kind of natural disaster will take place and wipe Stoon out. I wouldn't miss the place or the people in it.

So much hate towards Saskatoon. What's the deal?

Here is something to think about when was the last time a regina team has won senior men's provincials and gone on to club nationals. In the 80's so go Saskatoon players go!!!!

Anonymous said...

Holness: Unreal player, way way past his prime and I don't think he cares to play at the level of men's soccer in SK.

Peters: Fast player, lacks a lot of technical ability; easily replaced by a winger such as Northey if he got fit.

Pattersons: They are average players, not the greatest; David is rarely effective and the list of Saskatoon players that can replace him on a team is long. Steve is easily beat with speed and you could put a number of other players in the centre defence or wing position over him. Some players like Sam, Carson, Austin, Dion, Brendan, etc.

Chico: Good player, plays best at centre back; but a centre back rarely wins you games and the above named players could fill a gap left by Chico on the team.

Torres: Not worth mentioning

Myrah: Not worth mentioning. All Myrah has is a try hard attitude, and let's be honest, a player like Mitch Bauche who tries hard and has skill would be a better fit on a team than Myrah; and that argument could be made for a handful of others players that would top Myrah.

McGavigan: guy sucks. There are way better attacking players than that guy, even the Great 8 would be a better player than him, or a guy like Mark Korthius for an example.

Tavis: sometimes he is unreal, sometimes he is just junk. Levis is always unreal. No argument.

Your list sucks. You can name more players if you like I can continue tearing your list apart easily. It's funny how poorly you rate the Saskatoon players and their talent, but right now they are just more better players in Saskatoon then Regina. The Regina attitude of screaming and yelling about how bad everyone else is has become a complete joke and that won't change your situation. Maybe try developing youth players better and start there; as the 1980's is a pathetic number for a city with such "elite" players.

Say what you will about Saskatoon, but all these hate comments make it sound like Regina has become the jealous younger brother; not good.

Anon 17:43… you forgot to name the countless amount of foreign pro players that we have in our lovely city. By the sounds of it, that list would be over 1,000 pro players that are too good to even bother with meaningless Regina soccer… they just do kick arounds that no one knows about and only one guy has seen.

Anonymous said...

Don't forget Hodel, Peevers, Bravo & Bravo, Evans, Forsberg, Fatsburger, Dahle, Husdal & Husdal, Collins, Mooney and Edmundson to that list of stellar beauties.

Nipping at their heals for top honours; Peto, Giroux, Sanderson & Sanderson, and Messi… yes Messi is a Regina born player, he just wasn't good enough to stick around with the lot of talent mentioned in this post and mentioned by my fellow Regina comrade.

No wonder Regina is a powerhouse city when it comes to soccer in this country. Those lists are filled with depth, talent and strike fear into cities like Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.

LB: Colin Giroux

I am assuming that Craig Hodel was left off the list as he was busy with his professional career with AC Milan and the Italian national side? Rumours are that he is almost as big as a figure as Paolo Maldini in his native country of Italy… as Craig Hodel is SOOO Italian, he obviously was born in the homeland.

Anonymous said...

Anon 19:55 we all get the joke, especially since you put Flavio Bravo as Captain. You are hilarious brotha. Regina got a pretty sick talented squad ..... NOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
