Laos - Questions & Answers

If any other teams are interested in filling out the questions just let me know!

Name: Scott Myrah

Team: Laos

How would you rate last years performance?
I think last year everyone on our team agrees we under-performed to our potential.  It was the first time we hadn't been in playoffs let alone the final in a few years so it was a bit of a shock for us, but I believe it was a good thing to experience that coming in this year.

Are there any new signings or departures?
To my knowledge we have picked up Northey and Roman, and lost Chico and Damien.  I'm not 100% on the roster for this year so it will be a surprise to me at the first game.

Who is your most important player? Why?
In my opinion Evan is our most important player.  Every year he stands on his head back there and is a top-tier goalie in this tournament.

Where do you think you will finish this year?
I don't like guessing position, but I believe we are a top team that has the potential to make playoffs and push for another championship.

If you could sign any player in the tournament who would it be and why?
Another tough one as we have a great team, but who wouldn't want Jay Tomchuck on their team?

Who do you think will win this year?
I wouldn't be surprised to see Poland back in the final and pulling through this year.  From what I've heard they have the same guys and when they are on they are tough to beat.

If you could change one thing in the tournament what would it be?
One thing I would change is the time.  All the players who are in University are bouncing between exams, so it would be nice to have a tournament where it's more convenient for some of the players.

Tomchuk isn't the same player that he used to be. A good scored a few years back, but not as dominant as he used to be. Still one of the better strikers in this tournament but his stock has fallen a lot. Maybe he will find his form of old, but from seeing him play recently, I wouldn't sell the farm on Jay Tomchuk.

So who would you take over Jay? He is the best striker in this tournament.

Steve delong is a good striker. Especially with the small WCP pitch in close quarters. Better than Jay? I don't know, but it could be argued.

One of the funniest posts in the history of this blog anon 20:46. I am unable to fit Delong in my top 50 players that I am not too sure how he'd even enter the argument for best striker.

Players that I would take before Steve Delong:

Math Leung, Craig Hodel, Gordon Peevers, Anyone from Team Scotland or Saudi Arabia, and Karlen…. and that's just my short list.

People come on here for the sake of posting a comment, without actually saying anything. The last few comments are useless, atleast someone tried to create a discussion or an argument. All comments after it are idiotic

I think the phrase that really makes sense in this write up is "top-tier in this tournament". This comment sums it up quite well as I can't argue that Evan isn't a top-tier goalie in this tournament as there are many poor goalies in this tournament. (ie. The Germany Keeper Petro or whatever his name is, Flavio Bravo, The Ginger from Scotland). In this tournament Evan is top-tier and that is well said. I would rate Evan as an average goalie on his best day as when I compare him to a better goalie like JD, there is no comparison. I don't like JD one bit, I can't stand him as a person, but as a goal keeper he is athletic and has made saves that no other goalie in this tournament is capable of.

As for the Jay Tomchuk comment; Steve Delong is light years behind Tomchuk and years behind most good strikers in this tournament. I actually don't think Jay would be a good fit for Laos as they play a very long ball, counter attack game. I would suggest that a better target man than Adam Ailsby would make Laos much stronger. Adam does the job alright, but I think if Laos had a more dynamic target man they would be the top team in the tournament. Yet with that being said I can't quite think of a Regina striker that really plays as a good target man, so if possible, I would insert Tong Tong in the mix as no other names come to mind right now.

Hey Mike, are you guys doing a draft this year? For those of us who don't know a lot of the players out there, seeing the draft picks is a great way to determine who to look for!!!

It'd be great to see.

Thanks for taking the digs and putting the time into this blog. There are people who appreciate it for what it is.

Cheers,

SH

So the site is back alive and kicking. I have not had a chance to post yet but will offer up this advice. Keep the site comments positive and respond with adult like responses.

On that note I don't know why people are knocking Delong. Delong is an underrated goal scorer and was a late bloomer as far as sask soccer players go. He is someone plenty of teams could use in this tourney.

A lot of teams can use Delong in the tournament as there are a lot of bad strikers out there. Delong is junk and that is that.

Karlen is getting it easy as she deserve way worse IMO.

SH, We will be doing the draft once Mike gets around to organizing it!

Dwayne A.K.A 'DG' good to have your positive vibes back. Although that is a short post by your standards!

Also agree with Dwayne on Delong, he is underrated and will be one of the better strikers at this tournament.

Yet again the genius Peter has no idea what hes talking about

Petro? I am assuming your talking about is Jordan Peto who last yr played on France
(Kluge played on Germany last yr) last yr which won the tournament, and if you watched the game was the reason why they won because of his performance.

Why do you keep insulting/knocking players down, does it make you feel better inside or something ?

as for Steve being "light yrs away"

I disagree on that, I think Steve isnt on the same level as Jay but hes one of the top strikers to have in this tournament.

who is delong

Anonymous said...

Jay who???? Why are we still talking a bout these washed up duds?

Anonymous said...

HALF? That's lenient. I would say almost all the players in this tournament need to be told where they stand. I enjoy reading Peter's comment as they are realist and true.

Is it just me or are all the good player no longer in this tournament? Levis, Jordian… etc.

Peto is so bad. Most unathletic human being next to the Great Hodel.

If you are saying that "good players" have to be the level of Chico and Brett then there is no one else in the province that is considered "good". Those two play at a level above everyone else in this province.

Those two currently play at a higher level than everyone else, but just like everyone before them; they will finish university and come down to mediocrity. It is the cycle of SK soccer. Look 5, 10, 15 years ago and all the top players are now mediocre at best. It is what it is.

Bottom line: All this bickering of who is good and who isn't is pointless. If you are playing in this tournament you aren't that great, and if you achieved something, it is in the past and move on.

No one in this tournament is superior right now.

There is only two guys I would say that are true quality that have made appearances in this useless tournament:

1)BRETT LEVIS
2)JD BLAKLEY.

That's it.

The rest of the fools are useless little amateur rejects. Nothing special. There is no need to waste my time speaking about any of them. The biggest ego in this tournament is Bandula. He'll end up crying like a little school girl after Poland loses out yet again this year.

Shut up with all your talk about this player and that player. Post the scores and keep it at that. The b.s. on here sickens me. It's absolutely a bunch of shit, trash talk.

Anonymous said...

JD Blakely is good, but he isn't that good. Levis and Jordian are at a much better calibre than JD at this moment in time; but at the same time when JD traveled with the U17 program he was heads and shoulders above the rest. I can also say that about a few other players that have accomplished something in the past; but that is in the past.

Unfortunately the BS that sickens you is exactly what you just did! Give your head a shake.

Someone sounds mad lol. No one here is a professional footballer, doesn't mean people who show interest in the sport and/or this tournament can't have discussions about players. People can talk about whatever they want. Follow Mike on twitter if you only want scores. How idiotic are you to come on the blog BEFORE the tournament even starts if you only want scores ROFL. Many people enjoy this tournament and many people take pride in the multiculturalism that shines through. Why do all these pricks have to try and take it away from them. To say a discussion on who's better than who sickens you, just because they aren't in the race for ballon d'or or something is extremely sad. I feel for your poor soul.

Anonymous said...

There are more than enough poor souls on this blog. People with nothing better to do than trash talk people. Say some positive things about people. I doubt any of you would say half this stuff to the people you are talking about if you were face to face with them. Don't put on an act and hit behind anonymous posts.

All the good players that used to play in this tournament are gone. What a joke it's going to be. Amateurs. Waste of my time and money.
