Team Preview Germany - Kirk Evans

Best win? Worst loss? For your team in history of the tournament.
Best Win - Haven't had our best win yet, it will come this year in the finals.
Worst loss - Anytime we've lost too Laos in the quarters.

Tranfers. Who's in? Who's out?
In- Josh Forsberg, Kent Mcdonald, Nick Hipp, Karl Hanna
Out- Dallas Patzer, Elliot Debolt, Tyler Szekely, Brad Felber, Pat Ince

Who is your most important player?
We do not have a player who we consider our most important. Every player is important in the role they play.

What are you team's strengths?
Team is based as a whole and do not rely on a single player to win us games. Strong goaltender with great distribution. A plethora of attacking players who are scoring threats every time they touch the ball.

If you could have one player from any other team who would it be? Why?
Benno Looft. He's pure German and who wouldn't want Benno to anchor their team at the back?

Realistically where do you expect to finish?
Not reaching the semi finals would be considered under-achieving.

Who would you like to see win besides your team?
Sudan

My take: Can't say I am on the same page as Kirk on many of his points. I do agree that I can't remember many big wins but I do remember a lot of losses. I am not sure that Germany has "plethora" of attacking options as I have seen many of them play this year and they are not exactly setting the league a-fire. For me reaching the semi finals would be a great achievement for Germany. I certainly see them as a Top 8 team but not a Top 4 team. Whoever finishes 2nd in this pool will likely play ROI in the next round so that will make the semis tough.

I would say your most important players are the patterson twins. Dave scores quite a few goals and steve is one of the best defenders in the province. Your key to success will be how many games they can make it too.

not a chance nigeria, i disagree with u DB about steve p

Nigeria somehow has all of this confidence now that they have won a couple exhibition games, and still nobody cares. Start chirping once you've won a game in the actual tournament.

Would like to know who you would consider a better defender the S Pat? Jarvis Friesen Garitty vez are the only guys i can think of that would be worthy of a mention.

Mark warni, Dustin sembulak, and benno

I do agree that Benno is a monster he is a better centre back then Steve. I rate mark but not sure if he is better then S Pat. I personally don't know too much about Dustin.

no question steve is a top defender. personally i would take a player like jarvis or mason over steve tho simply because they add alot to a team offensively as well as defensively especially in an half field tournament like this. distance shooters at the back is a definite bonus

Dustin is a good defender, but i wouldnt rely on him in a big game. He's going to be a good sub for his brother.

I think people come in here and pretend to be players from other teams talking trash to cause hatrage on other teams, haven't seen or heard in person a player from Poland , Germany , ES , Nigeria or Afghanistan, or Greece pump there teams on or off the fields so who ever is causing that hatrage please stop for the good of the tournament

I can't believe you don't give credit to Stephan Patterson offensively, other than Brendan Garritty no one is as an offensive defensive man as Steve. I am blown away at how some people view talent. I think if I made a team of top 11 players it would beat most, if not all the teams Regina critics make!

The strength of polands defence is that it has numerous capable players including those mentioned as well as sam from sktn. Sam is a very strong left back both defensively and offensively

vez appears to have lost abit

i wasnt taking anything away from steve. i acknowledged that he is one of the top defenders in the tourny but in my opinion jarvis and mason and maybe a few other players are just a bit more offensively creative from the back. im not saying steve isnt good offensively aswell but jarvis has got a cannon on him and i doubt any defender scores or assists as much as mason does.

I very much doubt that, I have watched him play over the past yrs and I dont think I can recall him scoring a goal.

I'm glad that you watched him play... key word is watched.. I actually play on the same team as Stephan, and sometimes we have him play midfield as he is very capable of scoring and makes some great offensive runs for a player who is primarily defensive... yet the problem lies that you have formulated much of your judgement based on watching, as you learn alot more when you actually step on the field with someone and are on the same team.

Edward, I love your posts... you put your opinion out there and stick firm to it and post with your name... that is what I like to see... someone in Regina who backs their opinion... much respect to that.

Spat and Garritty are probably the 2 best attacking defenders as I have seen them both play in the midfield on outdoor teams. I discount indoor cause anyone can score in it.

"Dustin would be a good sub for is brother" could not have made me laugh more. Would love to see those 2 face off.

Here is what I see for best defenders in the province if I was putting together a back 4 for my 4-4-2

Friesen right back, Garrity and Jarvis as center backs and SPat at left back.

Now Benno has mad game and skill even at this age (39 I think?), but at this stage I am taking the younger guys.

Best one on one defensive player of that group is Friesen and this is not even close. He is easily the best one on one defender in Saskatchewan.

Best all around game to go with defensive skills is definitely a toss up between Garrity and Spat.

Jarvis is a great mix with those guys.

That defensive group right there is the best, and they proved it at men's nationals this past year. They gave up 3 goals in the whole tourney in 5 games (2 of those goals came in a meaningless game as well).

I dunno what kind of drugs you guys are on, DG and Collins, I have played with SPatt, he's good but nothin in offensive

Great post DG but I would take Jordian Farahani over Jarvis at center back and I'd take Jarvis over SPat at leftback.

SPat is not a striker this I agree with, but he is at the back for a reason.

As for being a better than average offensive defender it is quite clear that he is pretty good.

He has great distribution, a great touch on the ball and although he is not a sprinter he does have unassuming pace. I also like his ability to strike the ball with both feet equally well.

He is exactly what you want out of someone coming out of the back.

I think Jarvis is a great player but Jarvis found his calling on the alumni team as a center back. He paired up well with Garrity because at an elite level Jarvis is not someone that you want making a lot of decisions and asking to be offensive with. He is a rock solid defender though.

Germany might make semis this year because of reliable defending and ablility to score goals, they have so many capable players
