Best of the Day. Friday. Scores.

Womens:
England 2   Italy 0

Mens:
Poland 7   Scotland 1
Austria 2   Northern Ireland 2
France 2   Nigeria 0

Team: Poland - I guess I will go with the team that looked the strongest and that's Poland. Didn't have much to overcome though as it is darn easy to look good against Scotland.

Game: France vs Nigeria - I am extremely tempted not to pick one as they were all quite disappointing but if I was forced I would pick this one as it was the least least interesting.

Goal: I can't even pick one. This block of games was marred by terrible goalkeeping so nothing special was needed to score.

Gaffe: Allan Sserunjogi - Nigeria - Hit the post on what was a very important penalty for Nigeria. Would have put them ahead 1-0 but that wasn't the case. Honorable mention to Scotland for setting up a two man wall when Poland had not asked for space. Add in that the two man wall faced their own net and that Poland just passed it three yard to the left and you end up with a Poland goal.

Dressed: The Italy Womens Coach - Shows up to every game wearing a suit. If your team is going to lose might as well look good doing it. Plus it is not easy to out-dress England womens team.

Dancing: Scotland Fan - Dressed in a kilt and Braveheart face paint this particular fan used halftime to showcase what was almost certainly the niftiest footwork we have seen from a Scotsman so far this tournament.

after watching france, nigeria game, am convinced france is not that strong just if u go in the game thinking they are way better than u, then they will rip u apart,if nigeria didn't committee those 2 stupid fouls, they would have got something out of the game, and the ref has to call fouls both sides, shame on the refs, France loosing out in first round

i thought Allans penalty was good just un lucky, keeper was sent a wrong way, but most definitely it would have changed the game completely

I don't even know that to say to that comment. On one end, I would like to agree, but on the other I would like to remind you that maybe you should use a spell checker before posting your comment. You may also want to buy a punctuation usage book. In all honesty, it took me about three attempts to understand what you were trying to write. I do feel bad because English is probably your second language but you have so much software programs that would help you with your spelling and punctuation that it seems impossible to write like that. Use Microsoft Word first and then just copy and paste once all the corrections are complete.

regardless of what you think, france is still one of the strongest squads in the tournament. need i remind you they beat laos last year, and narrowly lost to ireland in the semis where it took some great play and the goal of the tournament from ireland to beat them. then they walked all over canada in the bronze medal game. i agree they havent been at their best the last two games, but good teams get results when they are struggling. i wouldnt bet against them just yet.

ok but they lost in the semi's still, and the guy juggled the ball 3 times, how come they didnt close him down right away last yr when he scored?

Walked all over Canada in the Bronze medal game....you mean the game where they put Dooley in net. Yeah, that is a great game to judge, a game where nobody gives a f***. Other than that, France looked pretty decent. This year, not so much.

Why is nobody talking about the game on Saturday between Laos vs. El Salvador? I was not there but heard that the game was absolutely horrible and it appeared that both teams played for the tie. Is this true??

Disappointed Fan

Laos vs es was a joke, i think teams should be punished for not trying at all, shame on laos they are class team but were classless that last game hope wcp organizers do something about such games next yr, i would suggest these kind of games be played at the very beginning

I was at the Laos game, and I didnt see anything bad about the game. Both teams started strong and it wasnt till 2 min left in the game that salvador played down the clock. This happens in all sports, the same thing is done when a QB in football spikes the ball or kneels in order to run down the clock. the result benefited both teams and with little time left i saw nothing wrong with both teams not risking the score at that point.

Laos vs ES was a good competitive match, not sure what all these individuals are talking about. It must be the sudanese supporters/players trying to find an excuse for their shocking performance against colombia and not qualifying. Maybe next year, but props to ES and Laos, great game and good luck in the quarter finals

Team France is the lethal injection.

If Team France is lethal injection, then I wanted Team France after the end of that Laos - ES game!

oh man if team France is lethal injection then ROI is the electric chair then!

Laos is the shotgun effect!
ES can be grenade effect!
